Onboard the TSS Nightbird.

Relief. After transmitting the ‚Nightbirds‘-package to Earth, the Entity had almost gone back to her calm state of loving bliss.
In some wonderous way, even with only a single channel functioning (strangely called “ViewCube”) , the Entity had offloaded more of her accumulated energy through this narrow pathway than one would have thought possible. But how?

And something else was inexplicable: when the THIRD SIGN Crew had sent their ‚Nightbirds‘ audio wave signal to Earth, images flooded back from Earth through the open channel. Strange images. At first endless unnerving advertisements. Then ancient creatures. Old-fashioned technology. Faces staring into glowing shapes. Fires. Conflict. Fear.

Onboard the ship, these images quickly turned thankfulness back into worry. The whole crew still carried red alert in their souls, everyone remembered the final message received from Earth before contact had been lost: APOCALYPSE.

“This can't be right,” the Co whispered.

“The transmission metadata is authentic,” the Captain replied, “June 5th 2026.”

“But humanity passed this stage centuries ago.”

Earlier in the TADH control room.

“Alright Ladies and gentlemen… it’ s time we let you in on something.”
the director had announced. Silence. He slowly removed his glasses. They vanished! While a strange shimmer appeared in his eyes.

“I am not from the same Earth as you. And neither is the Expert.”

The room stared.

“You all assumed we were investigating an anomaly surrounding your planet… ”

“It’s not the past, it is a parallel Earth.” the director’s voice hummed through the TSS Nightbird’s com systems on all corridors. The whole ship was listening. „The Expert and me were transported here from ground control shortly after you guys had left orbit years ago. We still don’t know how. The images you received are still this Earth’s reality. These people only got past the Moon a few weeks ago. No crewed deep-space missions, no other species, no reason to believe any of this“

“Well how nice! So we just pop up like 'Hey guys, no worries, it's just an interdimensional lifeform landing on your planet to stabilize intergalactic understanding” the Co replied sarcastically. No. This world was not ready.

But the signal listener stepped in: „But maybe this is neither coincidence nor accident. From how I understand it, the people of this Earth might need the Entity even more than your people“

“We will understand and find ways later.“ the Expert said to the TADH. Then into the com: „First, we need to get you guys down here and get you properly recharged.”

But uncertainty crossed the director's face. Maybe landing the THIRD SIGN crew here was never the difficult part. The Entity would arrive. The question was no longer if. Maybe the difficult part would be … getting THIS humanity to notice. To feel. To listen.

And suddenly, the signal listener’s expression changed.

"Director..."

"What is it?"

For the first time since the connection had been established, the signal listener looked afraid, eyes widening.

"...I think we may have completely misunderstood the Veil."

But whatever the Veil truly was, there was no longer time to solve every mystery before arrival. The landing window remained unchanged.

Every available pathway would be needed to widen the Veil's next opening and bring the landing through.

All channels open. Adjustet landing sequence initiated. The final countdown has begun.
